Civil Engineering Department Examines Graduation Project on Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting in Taiz

    As part of its commitment to developing sustainable engineering solutions to address environmental and public service challenges, the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction at the university has examined a graduation project entitled “Implementing a Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting System in Taiz City.” The project was presented in fulfillment of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree.

    The project explores the potential of harvesting rainwater from residential rooftops as a means of making use of water that would otherwise be lost. By introducing rooftop rainwater harvesting systems, the project seeks to enhance available water resources and reduce reliance on conventional water supplies, particularly amid the growing water challenges facing Taiz City.

    Conducted under the supervision of Dr. Suad Al-Sabban, the project examines the technical and economic feasibility of implementing rooftop rainwater harvesting systems. It also proposes a set of practical recommendations aimed at strengthening water security and supporting environmental sustainability in urban areas.

    The project was evaluated by a committee comprising Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Qadri and Dr. Abdullatif Al-Munifi, who commended the students for their efforts and praised the quality of their research. The committee emphasized the importance of directing graduation projects toward addressing pressing development challenges and producing scientifically grounded, practical solutions that can have a positive impact on the community.
