President of Al-Janad University for Science and Technology, Prof. Mohyeddine Al-Qubati, today launched interviews and academic assessments for the selection of new faculty members holding PhD degrees in a number of disciplines. The process forms part of the university’s efforts to strengthen its academic faculty and enhance the quality of teaching and research in line with quality assurance and academic accreditation standards.

Prof. Abdulqawi Noman, Dean of Academic Affairs and Chair of the Selection and Appointment Committee, said that academic competence and merit are the university’s primary criteria for selecting new faculty members. He noted that all assessment procedures are conducted according to professional standards designed to ensure transparency and equal opportunities for all applicants. He added that recruiting highly qualified academic talent is a key pillar of the university’s strategy to strengthen its teaching and research environment, improve academic outcomes, and prepare graduates capable of meeting contemporary challenges and serving the community.

The Selection and Appointment Committee was formed in accordance with the university’s Human Resources Regulations and implementing rules. It is chaired by the Dean of Academic Affairs and includes the University Secretary-General, the Dean of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, college deans, heads of the relevant departments, and the Director of Human Resources.

The committee uses standardized assessment forms and criteria covering applicants’ scholarly output, teaching skills, academic presentations, critical-thinking abilities, and alignment with academic accreditation requirements and quality standards.

Eng. Waleed Al-Jaour, Director of Human Resources, said the university had received more than 45 academic applications from PhD holders in the advertised disciplines. All applications underwent a rigorous initial screening before shortlisted candidates proceeded to personal interviews and academic presentations before the selection committee.

The initiative forms part of the university’s broader efforts to strengthen its academic and research capacity and attract highly qualified scholars who can contribute to the development of academic programs, foster a culture of research, serve the community, and prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to compete in local and regional labor markets.
