The Department of Therapeutic Nutrition at the Faculty of Medical Sciences organized a series of examinations for three undergraduate research projects as part of the requirements for completing the bachelor's degree. The discussions reflect the department’s commitment to promoting scientific research and linking academic research outcomes to priority health and community issues.

The first project, titled “Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of University Students toward Dietary Supplement Use in Taiz, Yemen,” examined university students’ level of awareness of dietary supplements, their patterns of use, and their attitudes toward them. The study was supervised by Dr. Haitham Al-Dubai, and examined by Dr. Lamia Al-Ameri and Dr. Dhaifallah Al-Rumaimah.

The department also examined a second research project titled “Assessing the Impact of Household Socioeconomic Status and Dietary Diversity on the Risk of Stunting among Children under Five in Taiz, Yemen.” The study examined factors associated with childhood stunting and explored the role of household living conditions and dietary diversity in addressing this public health concern. The research was supervised by Dr. Haitham Al-Dubai and examined by Dr. Lamia Al-Ameri and Dr. Dhaifallah Al-Rumaimah.

The third project, titled “The Correlation between Serum Calcium, Magnesium, and the Calcium-to-Magnesium Ratio with Body Mass Index in a Convenience Sample of Adults at Al-Janad University: A Cross-Sectional Study,” investigated the relationship between selected nutrition-related biomarkers and body mass index among adults. The study was supervised by Dr. Abdulqawi Noman, with Dr. Mansour Al-Khalidi and Dr. Mujeeb Al-Hussami serving as examiners.

The examination committees commended the students’ academic efforts in conducting and presenting their research and highlighted the relevance of the topics addressed to the health sector and the promotion of nutritional awareness. They noted that such research can contribute to developing evidence-based approaches to nutrition-related health challenges in the community.
