The Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Al-Janad University for Science and Technology organised a field visit last Thursday for sixth-cohort students to the Lojina Mineral Water Factory in Taiz, as part of its extracurricular programme for the current academic year, with the aim of strengthening applied learning.

During the visit, students were introduced to the plant’s production lines and automated operational systems. The tour provided insight into key stages of the manufacturing process, including plastic bottle production, water purification and treatment, and automated filling and packaging systems operated through programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Dr Marwan Al-Asali, Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, emphasised the importance of such initiatives as an integral component of the educational process. He noted that they play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application—particularly in the areas of industrial automation and modern control systems—while enhancing students’ preparedness for the labour market.

Dr Al-Asali also expressed his appreciation for the continued support of the university leadership and faculty administration for academic activities, and commended the management of Lojina Factory for their cooperation and warm reception. He added that such initiatives reflect constructive collaboration between higher education institutions and the industrial sector in the preparation of skilled engineering graduates.
