The Department of Accounting and Finance at Al-Janad University held a celebratory event this morning to mark International Accounting Day, organized as part of the university’s Quality Week activities and in conjunction with World Quality Day. The event was held under the auspices of the University President, Prof. Mohyeddine Al-Qubati, reflecting the university’s commitment to integrating academic and professional dimensions and fostering a culture of quality and institutional excellence.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Gameel Zaid, Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences and Humanites, expressed his satisfaction with the outstanding performance demonstrated by the students. He praised the organizing committee for presenting the event in a professional manner that showcased the creativity and capabilities of Al-Janad University students.
For his part, Dr. Muadh Al-Maqtari, Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, welcomed attendees and participating entities, noting that the celebration provides an important opportunity to highlight the role of accountants in enhancing financial transparency and supporting economic development. He also underscored the value of preparing students and connecting their academic learning with the labor market.
The event featured a series of academic presentations. Dr. Bilal Al-Samie, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, delivered a talk on “Accounting and Artificial Intelligence,” discussing how digital transformation is reshaping accounting processes and financial data analysis. Meanwhile, Dr. Bassam Al-Mukhlafi reviewed key International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and their role in harmonizing accounting practices globally.
In a brief address, Dr. Fadhl Abdulmagni, Head of the Department of International Business Management, highlighted the importance of celebrating International Accounting Day as an occasion to recognize the contributions of professionals in the field and raise awareness within the academic community of accounting’s essential role in advancing both public and private institutions.
The program also included distinguished student-led segments that showcased their skills in delivering specialized presentations and discussions. A visual presentation featuring success stories of department alumni was screened, offering motivational messages to current students about persistence and dedication in building a successful professional future.
The event was attended by Prof. Samir Al-Asbahi, Dean of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center; Dr. Gameel Zaid, Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences and Humanites; Dr. Abdulraqib Ghalib, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology; and Dr. Mohammed Al-Wahabi, Dean of Student Affairs, along with several department chairmen, administrators, and representatives of partner institutions.
