Under the auspices of the University President, Dr. Mohyeddine Al-Qubati, the Deanship of Student Affairs inaugurated the Seventh Al-Janad University Football Championship this evening, featuring teams representing various departments and academic levels.
The opening match brought together the defending champions — the fourth-level Information Systems team — and the first-level Information Systems team. From the very first whistle, the match was charged with enthusiasm and competitive energy, drawing a large and vibrant crowd of students.
The first half saw dominance from the first-level team, which took the lead with two goals scored by Mohammed Abdullah Al-Dahbali, ending the half in their favor. The second half unfolded with heightened intensity, as the fourth-level team mounted a strong comeback. Akram Shawqi reduced the deficit with the first goal before Hamzah Shawqi leveled the score through a penalty kick.
The excitement continued when Mohammed Moath restored the lead for the first-level team, only for Akram Shawqi to equalize once again. Turki Al-Sarmi then added a fourth goal for the fourth-level team, but Mohammed Moath struck again in the closing minutes, sealing a dramatic 4–4 draw.
The match was officiated by referee Mustafa Al-Maamari, in a spirited and sportsmanlike atmosphere that reflected fair play and healthy competition. The event marked a promising start to a tournament that students eagerly look forward to each year.
