Department of Information Technology at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology recently hosted two open defenses for graduation projects, presented by senior students as part of their bachelor’s degree requirements. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Abdurraqib Ghalib, along with faculty members and fellow students.

The first project, “Mobile Application for Managing Childhood Vaccination Schedules,” focused on developing a smart mobile app to assist parents in tracking their children’s immunization schedules. The app aims to promote public health awareness and support compliance with the national vaccination program. The project was supervised by Eng. Mohammed Sultan and reviewed by Dr. Sabri Al-Shaibani and Eng. Arwa Al-Absi.

The second project, “Efficient Deep Learning Techniques for Enhancing SIEM Systems in Time-Series Anomaly Detection,” tackled a sophisticated topic in artificial intelligence. It proposed advanced deep learning methods to improve the efficiency of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems in detecting anomalies in time-series data. Dr. Sabri Al-Shaibani supervised the project with co-supervision from Dr. Bilal Al-Samie, and the final evaluation was conducted by Dr. Basheer Al-Tayyar, Head of the Department.

These projects highlight the department’s dedication to applied research and its ongoing efforts to prepare students for emerging challenges in digital health and cybersecurity.
